Who do Roudham Trading supply?
Roudham Trading has been operating for over 35 years, providing beautiful basketware and occasional furniture to a wide variety of trade customers across the UK. We predominantly supply independent retailers who appreciate the fact that our products cannot be found in the large multi-national outlets. Our customers range from gift shops to garden centres, food manufacturers to hamper suppliers, delicatessens to stove shops, pet shops to mail-order catalogues throughout the UK.
Where do your products come from?
We source our products from the Indonesian Islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok. We travel to these countries to establish good working relationships with individual manufacturers, all of whom operate in small cooperative and family groups. Many of the products we stock are of our own design and therefore are not available from any other supplier.
Are your products Fair Trade?
The small farmers and cooperatives that we work with in Indonesia do not recognise official associations such as ‘Fair Trade’. However, because we have visited each manufacturing outlet we are confident that our products are not associated with unacceptable working conditions or child exploitation. Our goods are made from sustainable sources of rattan (including lacak, pullet, sabut kobo and manau) and we can follow our supply chain from harvest to manufacture. The people who make our products are incredibly skilled and take great pride in weaving goods of the highest quality. Therefore, we do not drive a hard bargain on prices and are happy to paying a fair price for products they produce.
What’s the difference between rattan and willow?
All our products are made from one of the many varieties of rattan. So why have we selected this material rather than willow? As a general rule rattan is much stronger and more durable than willow. Therefore it will last much longer, withstanding much more wear and tear both inside and outside the home. A shopping basket made of rattan will still be around when its willow equivalent has given up the ghost and returned to its maker. So whilst a rattan product may appear at first glance to be an expensive option, in the long run it proves to be great value for money!
Is there a Minimum Order?
We understand that, depending on the focus of your business, you are likely to require some items in small quantities, especially when trying out a new item. Therefore you can purchase just what you need with no restrictions. All items are available in small quantities but, as a wholesaler, we offer carriage free for orders over £500 + VAT. Of course, should you need, we can also supply 20’ or 40’ containers direct to your own warehouse.
Do you provide samples?
We are sometimes asked for samples so that customers can see the products for themselves and appreciate the quality of each item. If you are a new customer and are considering stocking our products then we can arrange for a show van to visit you. Alternative you can place a small trial order of one or two items in which case carriage fees will apply.
How much is carriage?
As a wholesaler we are set up to supply in bulk. However, we can offer you the convenience of placing small orders using either a national courier service or Royal Mail. Carriage costs will vary depending on the size and weight of individual items and these will be quoted to you when you place your order. The maximum you will pay for any individual order is £15 + VAT.
